Just went to make a wheel tubeless and it appears to be leaking badly from the seam of the joint, so guessing this isn't going to be fixable, has anyone seen this issue before, and is it pretty much terminal for the rim?

I'd retape it first, most likely the tape is not sealing properly and air is finding it's way out via the easiest route

It's at the side of the rim, so not the tape, i shouldn't have said cracking though, i meant i think the join has debonded, as i think these are sleeved joints?

Try building the tape up so it overlaps with the tyre bead at the rim - there'll be no gap between tyre and tape for air to get through then?

Totally normal for a sleeved rim (Which the S1 is). There's nothing joining the rim at the sides, it will seal given time. Seals can be better or worse depending on tyres as some make better seals with the rim tape than others.

You can speed things up by smearing in a little bathroom sealant(after you've taped) and leaving it overnight.

Bloody stans rims, never had this in years of DT!

Will give it a little 'prep' to secure then.

I'd check the tension of the spokes. Pinned joints tend to close up once the tension gets high enough.

Air should have no way to get to the joint.
Tyre bead should sit on the tape and the air volume *shouldn't* touch anything but tape and tyre.
