It's a bit mint isn't it!
Lap and a half of the black, some time on the natural stuff over the road, lap of each of the red routes and some time sectioning the drops. Even in the pissing rain with no waterproofs it was good fun.
Big thanks to the singletraction guys and girls out digging in the rain whilst we were out playing ๐
Only casualties were my rear mech on the black section (looks like it twanged the 'knuckle' on one of the 6 million wheel sized boulders that make up the trail ๐ and Tim landing rather heavily on his shoulder on the headhight drop to flat (on a red route!!!!!).
Yeah but it is a black optional ๐
Glad you liked, I couldn't go building today. Heard they got a lot done. New drops are closed again due to alterations and tweaks. For the greater good to make it better, promise!
How was the stuff over the road riding?
How was the stuff over the road riding?
Slow, muddy and generally underwater, we rode to the top, then came down the shortest route as it was just too wet. Had fun on the ski jumps at the bottom though or rather I had fun watching others mess them up repeatedly, and in the case of the bottom one struggle to hold a straight line just rolling it!
Which drops are closed, we didn't see anything closed? We spent quite a while sessioning the one a the bottom of the black route which was fun even if I was having a back wheel on the ground day.
It was cool having so much techy stuff in such short loops, the opposite of some trail centres where you think it must cost almost as much per meter to build singletrack that goes unnoticed rather than Stainburn where there barely seemed a bike sized gap between obstacles
Did you do the see-saw and wood stuff? Bet that was slippery as a fish today?

No, we did the first wood bit, but the 2nd with the big bridge in it wasn't grip'taped so we gave that a miss, the rocks were treacherous enough! Don't remember a sea-saw though.
New drops are in the open on the Red loop, so different one i think. Shame about over the road, it was just getting dry... again...
Hmm, didn't see anything closed, we did:
The black and the last climb twice after riding straight down the double track the first time having missed the entrance the first time!
Over the road for a mud bath, not actually that 'muddy', just under 8" of water!
The short decent/long climb out to the far corner up by the road then did a lap of the right (back to the car park) and left (over/past the big drop, and down to the bottom of the black route climb to the car park) options, did we miss something? there did look like a few sections where the surface looked very fresh so maybe it was just opened?
It is lovely isn't it. It seems to have come on immensely in the last 6 months thanks to all the hard work the SingletrAction guys have put in. The new drops are particularly nice and should remain so as long as people keep off them until they're finished.

That was the original concept, too short for any sort of proper ride, so make it techy with lots of sections to stop and session. Another key reason for all the rock, bearing in mind it's all hand built, it was so far to barrow aggregate that as much rock as possible (very much in abundance lying around everywhere) meant that every precious barrow of aggregate went a lot further.
There is a plan for a new line that will include a series of tabletop jumps, something lacking at Stainburn. Not sure if FC have approved that yet tho.
We rode it last Monday night. Over the road 'Norud' was mostly dusty ๐
And the WBT was riding sweeet, even if it was 9.15pm and getting a bit dark in there...
Big up to those who went the extra mile and turned out on Tuesdays for the restoration project ๐
