I am thinking of converting my Cotic Soul to a singlespeed. More inclined to use a tensioner, but i will consider alternatives.

Any recommendations, preferably with photos?

Ta.

Luckily 'magically' went on without any hassles at the perfect tension. There was some stretch in the chain from previous use though.

I ride SS Soul. 36:16 and 34:18 work without a tensioner on mine (Mk1 version) but after the chain stretches I stick on a tensioner anyway.

The above ratios make a great dinglespeed.

If I recall correctly 32:16 worked as a magic ratio on mine, however due to my puny legs I went to 32:18 and needed a tensioner for that.

I ran mine initially with suspension forks then later rigid with RC31's.

This was it with the tensioner:

And this was it without:

It's long since gone back to gears though!

Huws what ratio is that? A magic ratio will be awesome but I will use it to commute in the canal so I am likely to go crazy with the ratio...40:14 was what I was on my stolen inbred. Will that work? Nothing like trying I suppose..
