Im using a deore triple crankset on my ss by removed the outer and inner rings and just running the middle.
Does the way the middle ring face make much of a difference to chain line? (ie pins/ramps facing out or in)

Doesnt it have specific way to go so that it fits on the crank arms niceley anyway? One I installed recently did and had a depression for the chain ring bolts

If the teeth are offset to one edge of the ring or the other, maybe a tiny bit. I'd keep the defunct ramps n pins away from plain view myself.
