My reverb packed up - purchased in USA so didn't hold out much hope. Spoke to SRAM who said its an international warranty, take it to your LBS and they'll send it off to us. I go into LBS and manage to get him to post it for me - very much appreciated i might add. This was on Monday - he sent it on Tuesday. I was well impressed to get a call from LBS today saying it was back already - I was amazed.
Until i got it home - the shaft is covered in oil - hmmmmm, perhaps it was a bit of overspill from when they bled it. Then I fit it to my bike - they've put a hose on it about 2 feet too long, a bit annoying but OK. Then I realise the hose barb at the seat post is leaking oil and is causing air to get into the system. Gutted.
Welcome to my world.
I gave up with SRAM when they refused to warranty some forks that were 2 weeks old and were already showing signs of stanchion wear.
That's well unlucky. I've had a new MoCo cartridge for a set of 3 year old Pike forks on warranty. Thumbs up from my experience anyway. Will have to try this with my Reverb if it breaks.
Regarding local bike shop etiquette: Is it ok to just use them as a postal service for warranty claims? My local shop are great but I rarely buy much from them because they're 25 minutes away by car (much easier to order online). I feel bad but equally I have no other option. I feel like I ought to go in there and spend money on something I don't actually need, just to get them on side.
