I know there was a thread on the high price code brake hoses, that thread has been closed.
So I have guide ultimates on my main bike and I want to switch out the guide callipers for codes. I picked up cheap set of code r without hoses with the view of running them with the ultimate levers.
I’ve seen that there are replacement banjos available for around £5 but I can’t determine whether they are compatible - or I can a generic hose from eBay that is advertised as levels & code compatible.
Those of you who were asking, what was your outcome?
Thanks
Needs to be a code hose and specific fittings. Had this problem a while ago.
The stealthamajig barbs and bango fitting work with any sram code brakes. Get them from a reputable supplier though as lots of fakes about that end up with brake fluid leakage at the connections. Also invest in a cheap cable cutter to make it easier to cut cable perpendicular. Cable itself is fairly generic but you only lose 1cm if you chop off old barbs and use existing cables.
I've used Superstar fittings on my codes without any problems whatsoever.
My memory isn't great but I think you can use Code calipers with Guide hoses, but not the other way round.
I have mixed the hoses and calipers, but it only works one way.
Thanks for the replies..
What I've found so far;
- Superstar no longer seem to sell brake hoses, can find anything on their site
- Not only is the banjo bolt difference so is the banjo it's self. With the Codes the head of the banjo bolt sits flush with the head, where as the guides the bolt sits on it
So I can't imagine that will fit the other.
The only other option I can find is from Uberbike, they have a banjo kit. I'll have to call them tomorrow to ask about compatibility, to the calliper and the Sram hose. Otherwise I may as well just buy the Sram Code hose and be done with it.
You need to know if you need a silver banjo or black.
Code hoses will state on the packet what it has.
But did the brake work with the Guide hose ?
I am sure it did for me.
