Firstly, aware my OH frequents ST, and as this is about his Xmas gift... I'd kindly ask him to stop reading if he's seen this... but I wasn't sure where else to pester.
Partner has given me, the non-bike-maintenance savvy one of us, the task of sourcing a chain ring for his Trek Procaliber 9.7 which is the highest tooth it can go.
That part I've managed to source the info of... 36T. Quick research tells me its got a SRAM x1 group set on it (which I do recall as he has a pref for shimano).
This leads me to my query, a 36t sram is an obvious replacement, but if it wears out like cheese (not to suggest it would necessarily), I'd rather get something a bit more gucci and it last 2x as long...
Bottom bracket is push fit, if that makes a difference? (I wasn't lying when I said I didn't have a clue. I like to think I'm supporting my local bike shops with my lack of knowledge and business that is subsequently sent their way!)

I like Works Components ones but I don’t think they go to 36T.

Might need a new chain too as the current one might be too short for the extra teeth.
If it’s that bike linked above it is indeed sram 3 bolt / 3mm boost.
I’d just get the nicest alloy sram one tbh. They last well and are really light. I tried another brand (Northshore Billet) previously and it felt quite a bit heavier and wore no better.
Plus the teeth profile on the sram rings is excellent - never lost a chain yet.
You could also pick up a fancy new chain at the same time - the XX1 12 speed chains come in fancy colours. I like the gold and the rainbow variants personally. They last much better than cheaper chains too / don’t rust.
Sram direct mount?
Their cheap steel ones will last for ages and only be slightly heavier than aluminium.
Or Superstar Components rings last well, come in pretty colours and they have a November discount code I think.
