[#5752346]

The shock on my Turner DW has developed a load squeak on compression, irrespective of pro-pedal, damping etc settings. Its not the frame pivots, which are smooth and the shock bushings seem fine (no change in noise when I loosen them off). When I remove air from the shock it moves fine, with no noise. When I pump it up again the noise is missing initially but soon comes back. Ive taken the air sleeve off and added fluid etc, but this made no difference. Its pretty loud and is driving me crazy - any ideas?

Is there any chance that the noise is coming from the linkage under load and that maybe a little grease is needed on the mating parts? (my linkage does this when it dries out)

I've greased everywhere I can think of. Think it must be the shock itself.

Take the air sleeve off, clean it out and re lube, sorted mine for now, quiet as a quiet thing.

I had the same in my SC Nickel - noise in the initial phase of compression and no noise when I removed the shock. What i found out was it is a linkage - you just can't hear it without a load.

Would take the linkages apart and regrease them turning the bushes as you add grease via the zerk fittings. Try to do my 5 Spot at least once a year to keep it smooth. Just greasing via the zerks is not enough to ensure the shaft is well lubed.

You're quite right. I slackened off the main pivot and the noise disappeared. I thought that greasing via the zerk was enough. Cheers!
