i'd like to try and make a sprocket. for fun. is there a resource some where which shows how to draw the profile of the teeth?
i have only found the one online but im not sure its right.
I used to work on automotive gearboxes for racing cars (mostly rallying but a bit of F1) and our tooth profiles were a closely guarded secret and generated by a custom written CAD plugin. Since then I've moved into another, less technically demanding field and usually just use a few arcs on the profile as it's easier to CNC and they seem to work fine. For a chain sprocket it shouldn't make much difference. Once you are past the mid point of the chain the tooth isn't in contact with the roller. It's just about shifting. A chainring isn’t an involute gear...
So make a pattern of 8mm holes (for eagle compatibility) and then model the clearance of each link. Then do all your marketing.... oh sorry cosmetic profile design with details to make unsubstantiated claims about “gripping” the chain when it does nothing of the sort. That’s a chainring. Look at a used ring if you need help on where it actually does any work, which isn’t much of it!

the tooth roller pitch diameter is a function of 12.7 pitch centres and the number of teeth
