Switched it on just to show the kids a few minutes. My youngest* jumped around shouting BIKES BIKES ZOOM then fell asleep on my lap. Guess I’m watching live instead of catching the highlights.

Anyway, this race is IMMENSE. Break have a 10s lead with 6k to go. 😬

* he is 28 years old

Indeed well done Alison.  So happy she won after doing all that work to keep the group ahead

What a race! As I was watching every time I saw Jackson I thought 'that EF rider won't win, she must have spent about 50% of this race in the wind'. WRONGO. Seriously well earned win - she knew that if the chasing group caught them she had no chance of winning so kept the break moving to keep herself in. Superb.

Highlights on GCN YouTube.

I'd love to see a similar surprise winner tomorrow. Shake things up a bit!

What a ride from Alison Jackson today! Bit of luck on her side of course, but she played it to perfection.

In spite of the rather flat light, this is a great set of photos from the Women's race.

I’m not sure I’m emotionally prepared for another Paris roubaix after yesterday. Maybe today’s race could be quiet and predictable to give us all a rest.

🙂

I  love that you can't really tell at what part of the race the key move will be made.  Was so happy with the win on the sprint yesterday and the amount of joy afterwards.

If there is mud like yesterday I'm predicting some level of carnage, especially if the peloton stay bunched together.

Back from my morning ride, 30km to go to the cobbles.
Perfect timing!

Sagan down, doesn't look in a good way. 🙁
He's really not having a good final season. Poor guy.

**** this for a game of soldiers, my arse is knitting buttons just watching. The sheer nervous energy to be in the middle of that hitting cobbles at that speed with no control of your line or what someone else is about to do. Is there such a thing as on course adrenaline monitoring......

He looked in a bad way, blood on his head - I reckon he'll be in the team car at best, ambulance at worst.

Jumbo-Visma not hanging around now, maybe trying to force Luke Rowe to chase back on. Ganna is still up there.

Love the way that MvdP just casually nipped into the lead and bombed it into that sector as behind him it all got chaotic!

that carefully designed nutritional strategy that you were implementing - I just threw by the side of the road for you while I was on your bike. Sorry

Confirmed that Sagan is out - no news of his injuries but he's certainly a DNF.

I didn't see the collision (did anyone?) but it looked like he ended up crawling up the verge on the left, while his bike was over the opposite side of the road, which suggests it was a substantial spill...

WvA and MvdP on the move already!

They're absolutely blowing this up! The peloton is in bits. Going to be a lot of "oh shit, what now?!" going on behind.

yep.  riding at 56k/hr, insane, and clearly completely deliberate with the pace they went into the cobbles at.  love it

I'm watching on live pause so about 5 minutes behind due to a "comfort break"... 😉

WvA has lost Laporte as a teammate due to a flat tyre. The crash looked bad, poor Fred Wright.
And there was that guy in the breakaway who's front tyre exploded as he hit the cobbles so it's all over the place now.

Some insteresting names in the front group. Fillipo Ganna, Stefan Kung and John Degencobbles along with the vans. This is, as they say, a good race.

EDIT: Mads Pedersen too. Flippin eck.

Yep but Jumbo will need to organise before the last 50km, alpecin could well try to break the lead group and put MVDP ahead before Jumbo can get support up to WVA...

There you go Van Hoydonk and Laporte trying to bridge the gap?

Degenkolb is on a great one and of course he won this in 2015.
Ganna has been forced to work hard throughout but you'd not bet against such a powerhouse.

Difficult to call it which makes it all the better!

For me one of the biggest moments in sport last year was when Vingegaard waited for Pogacar when Pog lost control on a descent, and they shook hands and resumed hostilities. MvdP will never have that class.

What are you on about. Waiting for someone on a stage of a 3 week stage race that you're leading us not comparable to waiting for someone in the last few kms of a one day race. And that's not even considering that van Aerts started the move by attacking when the Dekenkob accident happened.
