[#671260]

Hi, i'm riding the 1000 or so miles of lands end to John o'groats solo at the end of July over about 12 days to raise money for cancer research UK. This was prompted by a mountain biker friend who occasionally frequents the forum being diagnosed with lymphoma.

I'm aiming to raise £3000 and so far am 10% of the way there so need a bit of boost to help me along, therefore I'm asking for the kindness of the singletrackworld massif. I know its cheeky and at a time when money is tight but any donations would be gratefully appreciated.

I have a just giving web site: HERE

Thanks,
Gareth

Any donations welcome, even the price of an inner tube or gear cables will do, make the inevitable saddle sores worth it!

I've just raised about £3k as part of a team (we raised £16k in total), it was bloody hard work.

You won't do it by asking friends and random forum dwellers to sponsor you.

One easy and quick way is to run a bonus ball sweep-stake,49 people (at work) £1 a week, 10 weeks, winner each week gets £20 the rest (£290) goes to charity.

Other than that, organise a quiz night in the pub, write letters to celebs (Theo Profwatsit gave us a grand last year), etc. But 'events' that take in different punters are the quickest way to do it, it's all quite a lot of effort but very satisfying.

Cheers Nick, I'll get thinking about that. I've yet to tap into the potential of colleagues at work and family, thats my plan for this week which should hopefully give things a boost, however £10 or £20 here and there really starts to add up and I'm grateful for any donations.

I like the sweep stake etc idea and will give it some thought.

Cheers,
Gareth
