Have some 661 launch shoes that I use with Mallets.
3 years olds and in need of replacement as all the eyelets have rotted.
I really like the concept of a SPD compatible flat sole shoe, as it means I can use them for other stuff, without the cleats scraping on the floor and also with flat pedals for messing about.
Is there an alternative to 661 out there?
Cheers
Shimano MP66 would be the other obvious suggestion
Not tried others but I like my 661 Filters - I wear em to commute to work and they are comfy enough to wear all day. Not tried em with flat pedals yet though I am just about to today!
Oh and how are the Mallets?
I need a 48 (i.e wide) shoe and so Filter does seem to be the best bet. As you say they are dead comfy, the Launch have been great but are now past their best.
Disappointed with the Mallets.
Bearings/bushings don't seem to last very long at all and have had to service them a lot of the last 3 years.
Twice had outer bearing fail resulting in pedal coming adrift from axle!!
Altough mine are the earlier C model, so maybe the 1,2,3 have been improved.
Am looking to switch to Time, but with 3 bikes it's not gonna be cheap.
