Use the spring from a biro and cut it down with a pair of pliers.

15 quid for a set from CRC, but 50p each from your LBS (as they can buy them by the bag i believe)

Send them an email. It appears them snapping is a design fault. I've had several go, the ones they send out now appear to have been heat treated for strength.
