Round one kicks off in Winchester this Sunday 27th, anybody here going?

Ive had a mild knee injury in the last few weeks but still hoping to go. I have never raced at Matterley estate before what should I expect?

Ta🙂

just looked at the website. might see if i can join in on the fun on one of the later races.

Although i am no XC racer, so would just be for the experience!

I shall be doing 2 of the Central XC races this year that are in the Chilterns. My old hood & really interested to see what courses they’ve put together!

Same here.
It'll be interesting to see the course they make in Wormsley, it's just along the road from me so it's somewhere I regularly pass through. If nothing else it'll be a scenic course!

Matterley has so much variety of terrain at the organiser's disposal that for an XC course they could make it very fire-roady or very technical and rooty. But predominantly it's quite a bumpy surface.

I rode a CX race there a few years ago (on a CX bike), and an Enduro last year (on a hardtail). I was underbiked in both instances.

In the CX event, the "open" race was won by someone on a hardtail. So for XC I'd go for short travel full suss.

Lovely location, you'll enjoy it.

Cheers @jacobyte, I only have a short travel 29er ht at my disposal so no decisions to make on that front, looking forward to it.
