did you get to ride?
๐
Yup, went out for a gentle pootle round the local woods that turned into a 3.5 hour hill climbing exercise up most of the larger hills in our area.
Took the single speed too ๐ And never pushed including two 15-20% longish road climbs
Yep, got out for a few hours on Saturday in the snow. Perfect conditions, frozen ground, a inch or so of frozen snow topped with a dusting of fluffy powder. Not too cold, plenty of sunshine, group of 10 or so riders, 15 miles of singletrack, followed by a huge burrito and a Corona for lunch.
๐
No riding as had too much to do as I started a new job today (not a million miles from and swung by Londons Look mum no hands cafe to meet up with a mate. We spoke about bikes pretty much all day though!
pootle ................
Rode both days,local.
practising jumping in the woods. 2 jumps - not big - over and over until I felt like I was doing it "properly". Next time, bigger jumps ๐
built new bike on friday, rode it round Drumlanrig on Saturday (getting fresh tracks most of the way round) - good times ๐
Having recently moved to North Wales I'm still exploring. I found that some very nice people have been busy in my local woods! ๐
Pretty good! Went for a dh ride at Ribbesford which was proper slippy and muddy so my confidence wasn't great, but a really fun ride and I can't wait to get back when it's riding fast and dry again. Think I have my footwork and cornering/leaning the bike sorted, it's just the looking ahead I need to concentrate on now ๐
30 mile road ride, bit of ice 2 miles from home, end up on the road, broken glasses (with plastic lens) A+E, 10 stitches around right eye.
So a good weekend!
Did my first ever trip to Afan ๐
It has totally transformed my opinions of all of my local so called trails!
20 mile road ride Saturday , 30 mile road ride Sunday . Cold chest , so i need to sort a windproof / showerproof gilet for the road.
Hard 60 on the road Saturday as I was told Sunday would be a potter. Hard 75 on Sunday cos they told me it was too easy Saturday!
i was gutted to find herts shore covered in frost again. i want to ride the whole place soooo much
What's wrong with a pootle?
๐
Did a few miles around the peaks. Cracking cheeky weekend.
Did whites and part of skyline at afan sat with some friends ( Inc chojin - hi bud glad you enjoyed it!!)- which was great - been in bed with man flu unable to mtfu since - which is shit
We had an icy Friday night ride and an icier Sunday ride. Is the a theme developing?
Slow and local ride saturday, first one on a day in January since 2008. Spot of skiing at Yad Moss on Sunday.
Fell off, cracked helmet and trip to hospital.
Nice 50 mile on the road Saturday then a few hours in Woburn Sands on Sunday ๐
Perfic weekend really...
Mountain climbing in ice and snow in N.Wales, slipped, fell and slid for 300ft back down the steep as **** gully I'd just climbed. Absolutely bricked it.
Will stick to the bike in future.
Had a couple of very muddy hours riding Aston court and 50 acre wood near Brist.
It was a blast
2 laps of the Loughrigg loop. Icy which caused a bit of difficulty on the road bits but other than that, perfect. In fact it was too nice as it brought out the grouchy brigade.
Quick 20 mile road ride on Saturday, with a blast (my mates were pootling) round Macc forest/3 shires head area on Sunday - Fun!
Rode Brechfa red for the first time in about 2 years and had the whole route to myself, almost. No cars in the car park when i left and when i returned there were 2 vans and a car. The other car park(ravens trail) was fairly busy though.
50k Trail Break in Shakleford for me. Enduro route even included a big haul up to the top of hindehead. Very enjoyable it was.
nice one snakebite ๐
Had no rides planned as approaching uni deadline. But...
...broke key off in van door while walking the dog with Mrs Julioflo near Venford reservior.
Only had wife's small hardtail [with eggbeaters on] in back of van, so tentatively pootled home on that in me wellies, picked up spare key slipped on some roadie gear and ragged it back up to the van!
An improptue hour of riding!
I popped over the quarry on Saturday and was saddened that the entire bike trails setup there is utterly destroyed - berms and tables flattened, trees felled over the trail, all the north shore is tiny pieces ๐ . The landowner had a large shooting party blasting away at partridge and pheasant in the other galleries. Best not to argue with folk holding guns!
Local ride on Sunday - it was muddy!
afan with chojin & zoolander.
epic fitness fail and subsequent toys out the pram "bugger this, i'm taking the fireroad back down" sulk.
glad i didn't as jetlag was ACE!
Once again, thought about it but it didn't happen ๐
its the thought that counts ๐
@snakebite - how olds your fella? I've got a 9 yr old who would like to try. He copes on the Monkey. Never done the dh runs myself. Perhaps should look first?
We went to the pump track in Coventry at weekend.
Finally got out after weeks of not riding due to coughing and colds.
Bit muddy (which was a shock after all the snow and ice), a few set backs with a flat after 15 minutes and a small problem with chain suck.
Can't wait to get out again.
Pearce Uplift at Hopton, brilliant fun. Looking forward to the next one.
No riding, much to do, but lots of bike related stuff done in the shed, and forks sent of to be serviced and rebuilt hard tail
Will be out this weekend
I spent over n hour getting snow tyres onto my rims. broke two tyre levers...
finally got out as the snow was falling to discover it was covering the very smooth ice that had formed via a short thaw and sharp freeze.
chickened out when I got to a hill and had no grip at all.
The ice tyres my friend had seemed fine.
rode very carefully back to the car park.
Only fell over about 5 times :o)
Sat morning ill, in bed till 1ish after a rough night. Sat night went out to a friends for tea, ate too much and then proceeded to drink too much at another mates until 5am... Sunday in bed again recovering from too much alcohol consumption.
Now doing that kicking myself at a wasted weekend thing. ๐ณ
No booze for me for the next couple of weekends โ
1st rule of biking- never drink too much the night before as to affect the riding! ๐
I think that should be my 2011 rule. Maybe even replacing 'bike' with 'life'.
1st rule of life - never drink so much the night before as to affect life ๐
