No not that one.....my XC lid!

Came back from a cracking ride this morning and noticed my helmet is somewhat stinky.

I have washed the inner pads recently but it doesn't stay fresh for long. I suspect the whole thing is quite sweaty. It's now in a pillow case in the washer, probably not the best idea but if it kills it I'll have to get a new one.

So how do keep yours summer fresh?

Yep I guess it could be my cheesy head that is the real problem...

Glad you like it Zoolander!

After most rides I rinse the pads (whilst still in helmet) under a tap. Keeps the smell at bay and doesn't destroy the pads like putting them in the washing machine can.

I soaked one of mine recently. I used a bucket with half a scoop of washing powder and half a scoop of vanish oxy hygiene.wedged it under with a plank of wood and left it to soak for an hour. Cool rinse in the shower and job done. No idea if it will kill the EPS though.

On a serious note - I leave mine out on the washing line after most rides. Seems to work.

Never thought about a buff..... I saw a nice Hello Kitty one the other day 8)

Looks like continual pad washing is the way to go.....if it survives the machine!

I've put mine in the washing machine before now, on a low and non-spinny quick wash, and it's worked a treat with no damage to helmet etc. Whilst the pads can be removed and washed often it's the straps that end up smelly.

I put it inside a pillow case with some other bits and pieces as well.....just in case
