After my first visit to Glentress on Saturday it is apparent I need to get fit again. I have a smart turbo trainer which I have been using with Zwift. Are there any other ways of training for climbs using other programmes than Zwift or would I be as well just tackling the climbs on there? Absolutely dying to get back down there again. Lucky for me I am looking after a 16 week job in Peebles starting in April so should have plenty of chances to get down

Sign up to some races in Zwift. A great way to get fit.

You tried the workouts on Zwift?

They bring exquisite amounts of pain... [img] [/img]

(yes I died on the 3rd interval)

I've heard the workouts are hardcore. I'm not sure I am ready for them yet

They're calibrated to be relative to your current state of fitness, so they shouldn't be any harder for you in relative terms than they would be for anyone else.

You'll probably see improvements by just riding up hills in Zwift or real life, but if you have a smart trainer already, interval training is going to give you a better bang for your buck in terms of time investment.

If you want an alternative to Zwift, the Sufferfest has a range of different programmes using their videos, which are power level controlled by a smart trainer. As with the Zwift stuff, you do a basic fitness test to calibrate the levels then the trainer kicks your butt to the desired level. Genius 🙂
