Hi, on my kids bike there's loads of play in the crank. Need to have a good look to see if I have to replace, adjust, or clean and regrease but cant get the BB out!! A quick search on Sheldon Brown shows me its called a slotted BB, I dont want to fork out £15 on a tool I will only ever use once so any suggestions on how to remove it DIY style? Many Thanks.

Hammer and flat blade screwdriver on the lock ring then an adjustable spanner to undo the main body of the BB.
