Slipping B Tension Screw

[#11883488]

The B tension screw on my SRAM AXS GX derailleur has slipped on the last couple of rides. After the first time unscrewed it, put some blue threadlock on it and readjusted it, but it slipped again to the point the mech contacts the cassette.

I have been careful to take the pressure off the mech when readjusting it.

Is it faulty or do I need a different threadlocker ?

I have also had to replace the bearings on the jockey wheels as they had almost seized up, would this have contributed ?

Slipped where? In the threads on the mech? Where it contacts the hanger?

If the mech threads are damaged you could put 2 nuts on the screw between the mech and hanger. Adjust as normal then move the first nut tight against the mech. Finally tighten the second nut against the first locking the two together. The idea is to make a mechanical stop that means the screw cannot slip outwards.

Thanks, will check if I have any suitable nuts. Good points.

I had assumed the threads, but I will check the hanger, can't say I have noticed any damage although it is generally caked in mud when it stops working, so I haven't looked very closely.

Thanks, looks like the mech hanger is getting gouged.

Hmm....

Edit: it isn't, it's the derailleur stop that is part of the mech.

Got a picture? Would make it easier to see what might be up.

My GX b-tension has slipped ever since I started using eagle in 2017. Its on my list of things to check, like chain wear and tyre pressure.

Seems to migrate quicker with rougher riding.

My suggestion isn't going to help with that. From the witness marks looks to me like the angle the screw meets the plate is too shallow at the extreme. Can anything we placed between the hanger and plate on the mech to reduce the angle the screw meets the plate?

Could also be worth checking the screw is not bent, seen it happen when they are at the full in position.

Thanks all.

Have threadlocker'd it once againย

Will see what's happens on tomorrow's ride.

I think that bit is the same as the older XO derailleur, do I might swap it over.
