After been made redundant, i have now lost the use of a company vehicle so my evening rides are all started from home, i tend to ride up at Cuerden Valley park near Bamber Bridge, the main paths on Cuerden are always full of dog walkers with no control of there dogs, do any of you local preston guys know any fun singletrack around this area?

In a word, no. I'm Preston based and there is naff all round here, unless you want to do lots of cheeky stuff, but that mainly involves spending more time dodging wayward dogs and dog eggs (I'm with you on that one). Not many choices I'm afraid. It's time in a car either heading east to Gisburn, south to Rivi or north to the Lakes if you want something decent. You could get some slicks and head onto the quieter country roads. It's a desperate measure I know, but desperate times n all that. At least you're out and putting mile in, better than nowt.

On a positive note, I'm out most weekends (lakes normally) and I've usually got space in the car. If you need a lift, just shout. I remeber all to well how crap it is being out of work. Best of luck with that btw.

I hope someone else can prove me wrong though, I'm not from Preston, so don't know all the area.

Longridge fell, but you'll need a local rider such as myself or a few others who know it well to get the best out of it. Depends how far from Longridge you live since it's five miles from Longridge.

I'm guessing he might know about Rivi, going off his user name...

talk to simonfbarnes.

Theres a few loops south of lancaster, nicky nook and a few others spring to mind.

You could also head upto warton crag, farleton knott and similar places within about half an hours drive
