Currently have an ISIS chainset on my SS which (surprisingly...) needs a new BB. The alternative is to buy a complete new setup that doesn't need regular BB changes.

Any thoughts/recommendations?

SS is just an XC/bimbling about bike so doesn't get exposed to significant abuse. I've never (yet) broken a crank on any bike. Bike has an EBB with 68mm width conventional threaded shell, so new setup will need to fit this. Wasn't originally thinking about spending mega-bucks, but I'm as susceptible to budget creep as the next cyclist...

Thanks

What he said, pick a budget then pick a shimano chainset to suit.

I've XTR, but I'm a tart.

^^ as above ^^

Get your bb shell chased and faced and expect that singlespeeding will abuse bearings.

Truvativ Elita is a decent ISIS option that has worked well for me in singlespeed guise for some time.

Edit - sorry, have just realised what you're asking. FYI, the superstar ISIS bb i got some time ago is still going strong. No complaints so far, specially for the price.

or the Superstar Isis BB with your current chainset (but that's £30 and I'm sure won't last quite as long as the cheaper UN55).

I've not found any difference in bearing lifetimes. They die from contamination when the seals wear rather than loading. The datasheet that came with my SKF bearings I hammered into my old BB rated them to something silly (several tonnes radialy at 3000rpm).

I've used various shimano and others as SS chainsets but got a Truvativ Stylo SS one a couple of years back which I really like. TBH I haven't had any problems with any of them (apart from ISIS ones where the bearings wear out too quick), but the SS specific one does look very nice and the bearings last well.

Yes, I would suggest you try the superstar Isis bb before you change your chainset...

Having said all the above, I'd get the Deore cranks and BB from here: STW Classified Ad if it was me. Bargain, and just the job.
