Hi, can anyone help with some advice on good light weight shoulder protection / armour.

I recently broke my clavicle and had a plate screwed in 3 weeks ago. Had my first MTB ride last night (great to get out) but found i was very hesitant in case i fell off again. A couple of yeasr ago i dislocated the clavicle on the other side so both sides have been damaged. I am now looking for some light weight (but hard) protection for my shoulders in case i have another slip.

I mainly ride cross country + welsh trail centres (but no big jumps) so want something light weight, comfy and flexible as we ride 15-25miles on average.

Can anyone advise on what the best solutions are out there. thanks in advance for your help

Steve

I've got the same problem - slowly getting back to riding after breaking my collar bone.

I've looked at armour and I can't see anything that would prevent a knock on the clavicle from breaking it again. Perhaps one of those motocross-style roost guards (they look ridiculous though).

My collar bone broke as a result of landing on my shoulder blade so I don't think there's much you can do to prevent the injury if you don't want to ride in a bear-proof suit.

The problem seems more of a mental one than one that can be solved by another bit of gear.
