We're camping at Glen Nevis campsite and seeing people setting off up the mountain has got us pining for the summit.
Should I and a couple of the kids do it or is a big bike ride better?
We're scared of the likes of Gardyloo gully.

Sorry, should be in t'other bit. Or half and half.

No, wait until tomorrow ๐Ÿ™‚

How old are the kids? How much walking have they done before? It is, frankly, a dull and monotonous walk. Nice views from the top, but see what the weather is going to do first. Plenty of people get the summit navigation wrong when it's cloudy.

Pretty dull walk unless you want the tick. Look in the other direction - the Mamores are nicerer.

If you want to climb the UKs biggest mountain yes. If you want to just do a nice walk then no. The tourist path is a long slog up a rocky stepped path and there is always lots of people on it. Plenty nicer mountains around the area IMO

How old are the kids? Are they happy with a bit of exposure/scrambling? If so then CMD arete is a good way to do it, with cracking views of the north face. As noted on the other thread, it can be blizzard/pea soup fog/heavy rain/All of the above at any time of the year, so make you're well prepared and if you're not happy navigating in poor visibility then maybe think again, it's trickier than you think getting off the summit with some serious consequences.
