So, if we read these threads we know the following; 29ers are faster than 26ers (but probably not as good as 650b) steel is more niche than aluminium/titanium/carbon and riding fully rigid singlespeed is the ultimate proof of riding god status.
But how about wearing shorts in the winter. Does it make you go faster?
My research tells me it does. Wearing tights or some other warm cosy gear clearly slows me down. What other clothes can we wear to make us ride faster...
Surely if wearing shorts makes you go faster and tights are more cosy, then [s]650b[/s] 3/4s are the ideal compromise combining the best attributes of both.
Perhaps try cutting down the left leg of a pair of tights to shorts length, then see if you go faster round right hand corners.
This will prove it one way or the other.
A bit like putting two different sized wheels on one bike to see if one end goes faster than the other.
Is this the same as riding without a shirt allows you to do really good wheelies (although I'm still not sure whether it's being shirtless, the tracksuit bottoms, the baseball cap or the big gold chain)!!
extrapolating, if you were to wear no shorts you would be faster still
(obviously depending on the drag caused by your willybits if you're well endowed with such adornments)
Riding with no shorts makes my knob come alive
Riding with a hoodie makes me faster than a police car.....
+1 for riding naked.
It's simple, those that ride in shorts in winter are tougher and harder than those who don't. Of course they are faster.
Shorts are not faster, they are colder, which might lead to you be faster (so you can get home and warm back up) if it doesn't aggravate your arthritis...
