Hello,
My mate is looking to get a £1000 road bike for triathlon work - are there any stand out bikes at this price point he should consider?
Thanks

For proper competitive Triathlon work he needs a TT bike, for messing about, any decent spec road bike with clip ons should do.

Used - get him on the tri forums. I'm led to believe that those folk are massive gear freaks, always upgrading.

He's not a cyclist then 😆

The Planet X TT bikes are always popular. The main thing with a Tri/TT bike is the fit (I have a few triathlete mates who compete at elite level) as staying in that there aero tuck can get uncomfortable.
But at the other end, I have a mate who started tri last year and does well on a Giant Defy 2 with clip ons 🙂

Anything else up there with the Planet X? Other than the difficulties of fitting/sizing online it does seem to get good reviews.

There are lots of good road bikes at £1K - and few bad ones.

No need for a TT bike unless he gets good/serious - most of the aero benefits are marginal bar the tuck, which you get with tri bars.
