Can't make the peaks pootle coz of a poxy house viewing, but will be up at the cliff ( belper/ambergate) if anyone fancies a coupla hrs of riding Bout 3 pm sat avo I'll check before I ride! Oh and **** it I've just burnt my cheese on toast
Just me then 🙂
I might have been up for it except i've got Domestic Duties.
I had been planning a ride this afternoon, considered Shining Cliff and/or Black Rock but thought they were considered off limits at weekends - happy to be told otherwise!
I'm in shining cliff most weekends, I must have missed that announcement.
Off limits by whom?? So longs as you don't park on the access road at shining cliff all is good and black rocks has never been a problem for me to be fair. At black rocks last weekend we saw all of about ten people up in the woods and all were ok. Love the little bit of downhill from the trig point and found a nice bomb hole last weekend. The trail was busy but that's the norm for a weekend.
Might catch you next time. Cheers
Fair enough - i was under the impression it all got a bit busy round there at weekends; happy to be proven wrong 🙂
As to where I heard it? Oh you know, an internet forum...
I know bit after the event but please stop posting about Black rocks / shining cliff on here - both of them are not fully legit places to ride - black rocks has a forestry guy walking round most weekends who will happily ask you to leave ,and large parts of shining cliff woods have SSSI status, there was a total ban on bikes some years back after DH riders wrecked a wall or in this area (it was in MBUK) - there is no full right of way in either one, whilst you are probably ok to ride there, publishing details of it on here will only lead to more riders in the area - I dont want a good local ride spot getting shut down!
But you ride there???
cheers for keeping this thread on the front page, ill prob head there this week with my posse of 30 now you have reminded me..
I often ride and walk in these woods. The mountain bikers don't do themselves any favours at all leaving a lot of litter around the trail network. In reality it is probably just a few people out of the large numbers that visit this area now.
I often pick it up and carry out what I can but on my last visit there was too much to carry.
Also some of the 'off-piste' trails that have been built in the conifer area run through a badger set at one point and there was even litter stuffed into one of the badger holes!
