I had heard that XT and shimano 540 SPD pedals are essentially exactly the same with a different colour scheme, the weight is listed as exactly the same so, it suggests that they are similar, I have XT pedals on one of my MTB's and was going to buy another pair for my second bike, but as the 540's are up to £20 cheaper (at the same weight) is the extra worth it ? Are they really identical ?

I always buy the 540's cant see the difference so also interested in the answer to your question
