Something went awry on the pompino today, heard a noise from the back followed by a constant whirling clicking sound that transmitted through the pedals. Rode home OK but guessing the freewheel is preparing to shit the bed? It's a shimano MX30 one - can you get these open to take a look at the internals? Possibly a spring or a pawl is broken in it.

You may be able to open it with a peg spanner.

Any freewheel I've seen taken apart never lasts.

Soaking in gearbox oil is easier and recommended tho I've not done it.

Serviceable. Took mine apart, degreased and degreased after this harsh winter. Running fine now.

Keep taking the outside race off and splodging more grease in there.. they'll not fully give up until things get really noisy, and you've taken out all the adjustment spacers..

New bearings and a proper clean is probably better, but always seemed like delaying the inevitable..
