Had a bad experience a couple of years ago with bleeding Avid Elixir's.
On a scale of 1-10, 10 being easy, how easy is it to bleed Shimano M785 brakes?

I'd say 10

Drop it off at the lbs, give them £15, collect it later

Pretty easy imo

10- really unfussy

However it does depend on what kit you have.
My top discovery is that the Reverb bleed kit thready bits on the end of the syringes is the same as the thread on the Shimano lever.

10. Very easy.
Couple of things to note though.
1. Buy either the Shimano funnel or some other bleedkit that screws into the lever.
2. If you find that you can't force any fluid up from the caliper towards the lever, you probably need to back the free stroke adjuster screw off a turn or so. I don't know why, but it seems to isolate the master cylinder from its reservoir if screw in too far, preventing fluid from bleeding back into the reservoir.

9. 10 is reserved for any brake that the missus would want to bleed herself (ie the holy grail)
