New rotor - 180mm Shimano XT from CRC, adaptor from Merlin Cycles - 180mm IS to post, front hub - ProII, fork - Marzocchi Bomber Z1SL QR.
I had the brake checked by Freeborn in Esher and they say it's fine.
All fitted and... the rotor isn't fully grabbed by he caliper, only 5mm is (so about 3-4mm of the braking surface sticks out).
I've tried a Hope rotor (183 floating saw rotor) but still the brake isn't grabbing is fully. And on top of all that, the pads are sort of loose.
What's the best thing to do? I'm tempted to file the adaptor a bit. Whill I mess it up? Cheers!
Probably a silly question... have you definitely got the adaptor the right way up?
Yep, I've just found a second adaptor, the same markings but a different shape. Having fitted it, I discovered the brake works well. Blooming sandards ๐
Ha ha. I once changed to a smaller rotor just before a race and rode the whole thing wondering why I couldn't stop (pads were meeting above the rotor).
Did quite well though... maybe I should do it again.
