A goodridge hose I had on an old xt brake sprang a leak this morning...i haven't used it for a year or so and am starting to wonder if it ever had the right bits...

What i don't understand is what the collar is actually doing. Is it meant to compress the hose, sqeezing it into the banjo like device (i don't know what it's called...it's banjoless...but the pointy inside hosey bit).

[img] [/img] are the three bits i have.

this is the point thing in the brake lever end the bit that keeps the point bit in (altohugh i'm aware that normally these would be attached to the hose before I put them into the lever.

This is the stripped hose and 'collar' bit which seems a bit pointless. Should it actually sit on the plastic housing? I don't really understand what it's meant to do. Have i stripped too much housing?

The last time I fitted Goodridge hose, the instructions said NOT to strip back any housing.

When fitted correctly, the hose is compressed between the "pointy bit" and the collar you are holding in your hand in the lower photo.
