Anyone know if Shimano brake adaptors are specific to brake model i.e. XT brakes take XT adapters?

Looking for 180 and 160 for SLX m675 brakes.

As far as i'm aware all the post mount adaptors should be interchangeable, as long as you've not the Boxxer specific (or similar) ones.

Adaptors are all the same ime. There can be some minor issues with Juicys because of the pad tangs but if anything Shimano's adaptors are the most accomodating.

Have mixed and matched Avid/Shimano/Superstar/Hope/North Shore adaptors without any problems.

No, they are not specific to model. There are adaptors flagged as being XTR but they will work with any Shimano calliper, they are just a bit lighter. I have them on a set of Deore brakes.

I tried to fit some SLX M666 using a flatter profile Superstar 180 PM adapter adapter and found it didn't work, you need the indented shape in the bridging piece.

I prefer the shimano adapters for shimano brakes. A lot of places claim a front 180 is the same as a back 160 but with shimano they are not. The caliper holes are ever so slightly off-centre on either the front or the back (can't remember which) and right in the middle on the other end. The front 180mm one is also a bit more beefy than the rear 160mm one for obvious reasons.

Front and rear have a different offset from the mount; 2mm according to the IS Standard (Magura have drawings).
So a 160 rear will be 2mm thicker than a 180 front.
You can mix and match provided you can slide the calliper to the correct position.
There are a few specific mounts such as Boxxer (do they do a rear Boxxer he asks in jest?) and the KCNC PM/IS 160 front.

As for being manufacturer specific when they fit PM or IS mounts, I leave you to work that one out.
