Has anyone tried the 8100 mech with 11sp drivechain? (Or actually tried the Sunrace one?)
I've got a whole unused 11sp drivechain I can replace a worn out 10sp just minus rear mech but don't really want to buy another 11sp rear mech.

Or perhaps just stick on a 11-42 with the existing M780 series mech and Sunrace 'goatlinkalike'?

Just done this. Have an 11-46 and figured that while 46 was the max for my old mech it’d be worth having something that had a bit in reserve as it were.

All set up with minimal fuss and shifting like a dream.

Cool ... I'd thought that would be the case but nice to hear.
11-46 feels like a slight stretch at the moment ... (works fine but could be better/less finicky) and not sure why I'd want 11-50 but nice to know ... so thinking I'll buy another 11-46 Sunrace cassette and M8100 mech and just cycle the other stuff across bikes.

I'm using a 11-50 11-speed sunrace cassette with 12-speed SLX rear mech and 11-speed SLX shifter and it works great. Just recently changed the mech from an 11-speed slx, which kind of worked but wasn't great

Similar to ssboggy I'm running a 12sp SLX mech with an 11sp 11-50 Sunrace cassette and XTR shifter. Works great.
