Had an odd squeak in my drivetrain which I traced to the bushings in my m6100 mech. Cleaned them up and put a bit of grease on(yes, I know they are supposed to be dry, but they were buggered so this is just an attempt to get a bit of life out of an expired bit), but as this has happened in about 4 months of occasional riding. I can't see them lasting too long, especially as the bushing sleeve was visibly worn in places
I understand XT and above use ball bearings, is that right? Are they likely to be the best replacement, or are any of the aftermarket ones any good?
Bit puzzled by this, never really been an issue for me before with Shimano (just SRAM)
One of my XT bearing jockey wheels is on its last legs already. Not even been on the bike a year - no better than the gx bearing jockeys on my other bike 🤷♂️
Ugh. So not Shimano then. I had this issue with a 10sp GX, I feel your pain.
Trying to remember what I put on there but they lasted loads better.
I see Superstar do some, but a bit too early for reviews as they haven't been out long.
On my 11 speed gx I had the bearing issue and so I just replaced the jockeys with NX ones as they are bushings. I was wondering whether this was an option with Shimano but an number of people have warned me that deore / slx bushings last even less time than the bearings.
Who knows what the best option is - I was looking at superstar ones the other day and trying to decide whether to order some or not.
Once worn out I replaced mine with uber 12s (I think or superstar..?). Anyway alu ones. Good so far a few months in. Bearings fine over winter. Nothing to report really.
