you do seem to be a bit of a helmet though. For an educated man you seem to suffer from napoleon syndrome, are you short or do you have a micro penis? This would explain why you try to throw you 'weight'/ego around on a forum full of middle aged men who just want to banter with each other; I am aware not every one on this forum is middle aged its just a sweeping generalisation.

well, most of what I'm getting from ro seems to be confusing static. I assume he does have something to say beyond selfaggrandisment, but I'm never able to put my finger on it, however, as soon as I see a consensus of criticism directed at anyone, my natural reaction is to suspect they are onto something 🙂

Depends on context, but potentially.
Say I don't like Star Trek. So I sign up to a Star Trek website, and spend a morning going round the board telling everyone that they're sad losers. Then I sit back and watch as the chaos unfolds, giggling up my sleeve as the forum regulars go into meltdown, choking on their own bile and vitriol as they take it all far too seriously.
So what you're suggesting is, so long as I *really really* believe that Trekkies are saddos, it's not trolling and therefore acceptable?

i don't think it fair to express your views / troll a forum where the individuals are genuinely sad. for example, in my dim-and-distant past i once trolled a usenet newsgroup comprising some very sad souls. apart from being too easy - and therefore not much fun - it was Just Wrong, and i've never done it again.
as long as the forum participants are robust enough not to be hurt - other than by demonstrating their own stupidity - i think any forum is fair game.
forums are much like life. there are formal and informal rules on participation and you ignore these rules at your peril. treat a person who expresses contrary views / trolls as you would in the real world and the whole thing is a giggle. it only goes wrong when people get angry, which is just plain dumb.

I think I can see where you're coming from, oddly. I've been known to play devil's advocate in debates because it's often more interesting; however, I believe there's a distinction between discussing a difference of opinion and deliberately baiting people for laughs. Both yield similar results but the former can be intelligent conversation, the latter the behaviour of someone with very serious personality issues.
