I've discovered a SFN in my carbon steerer.... what would be the best thing to do?

a) Ignore it and carry on
b) Knock it down and replace it with a compression nut for carbon steerers, but risk making things worse,
c) Try and remove the SFN and replace with a proper nut, but risk making things worse.
d) I have 25mm-worth of spacers to play with so could in theory cut the steerer tube.

Thanks.
