Guess the title says it all. Lots of creaking so stripped down pivots and bearings seem seized - the middle bit of metal does not rotate. I have found replacements on the BETD site but cannot find any info on *how* to replace. I am guess something like 'smash old ones out with a hammer then press new ones in using a socket/vice etc' would do but has anyone actually done it for real - successfully?
Cheers, Will
Your method is exactly correct.
However, they are under a lifetime warrenty. I'm only on the second set on my Attack Trail, just took it into the LBS and said "the drive side bearing on the main pivot feels a bit gritty." He had a look and said "oh yes, so it does. Leave it here and come back in a couple of days."
Went back a couple of days later and he replaced evey pivot bearing on the bike, no charge.
Warrenty does what it says on the tin. (Never asked for any proof of purchase etc, so I guess would also apply to second hand frames) How much did you spend on the BETD ones?
Got my MV third hand and ridden it to death so find it hard to believe I could walk into my LBS and just say 'hey, replace my bearings please', but the idea is appealing. Not bought the replacements yet, just found them. Think a full set (2 x 2 x 2 = 8?) was something like £70!
Cheers, Will
Definately worth a try if you have a friendly LBS, Marin warrenties are top notch. Don't tell them it's third hand unless they ask though...
Warranty is on the bearings not the metal Spacers from shock...but go to local Marin dealer as they will warranty the bearings. Shop order warranty replacements and send old bearings back as proof it was a warranty job - so I've been told.
Sounds about right, I didn't get any of my old bearings back.

Marin warranties are excellent, take it to the dealer.... don't do it yourself... its a good reason for having a Marin. Same with frames and stuff that breaks.
I had several sets of bearings done, I think I only paid labour which isnt unreasonable.
