What's the sealed gear cable du jour?

I've been using Shimano outer and a job lot of cheap eBay cables. I've found I'm having to replace them reasonably often, compared to my old Gore cables that ran for a year or more without fuss.

Being 1x and cable dropper, a pair of gear cables sealed would work well.

Shimano SP41 outer, SP40 sealed end caps (unsealed are pointless in our conditions), and good quality stainless slick inners, such as YPK seem to be as good as the early Gore sets, and far better than the last few sets that I experienced. Full length outers rather than split ones are less susceptible to dirt ingress too.

Aaaah Gore cable sets. I remember when they came out I had SRT500 gripshifts and XT rear mech, stronger spring in the mech and shifter. I put the gore cables on and I used that bike 2/3 times a week off-road for 18months without lubing the cables with no problems at all. Never used them again as I got into BMX and forgot about them when I came back to MTB.

Middleburn cable oilers FTW (if you can find any). Fitted to all my bikes including my daily commuter with cable discs and never any cable related problems or need to change cables

Transfil mudlovers aren't bad. Especially with a bit of Rock'n'Roll cable magic lube?

Yup cable oilers are ace and are on all my bikes. Quick squirt of GT85 now and again sees cables last years. I had more issues with sealed gore cables in the past than with the oilers.
