Is there any noticeable difference between the two in terms of shifting?
Not that I've noticed between mmy Zee and my mates Saint. Saint is beefier and blingier, and maybe has better jockey-wheels (I'd guess sealed bearing as opposed to bush).
To me they shift the same but Saint is definitely tougher (Zee has some Saint bits in it but it's still only as strong as its weakest, SLX parts) which might eventually translate into better shifting as it stays straight and functioning
If cost is no object, go saint.
But my set up with xtr shifter and zee mech is pretty good. The fact i can buy nearly 2 and a half zee mechs for the price of a saint also swung me.
I can't compare the two but I just went from an SLX shifter and XT mech, to an XT shifter and Zee mech, and shifting feels much snappier. The shifter makes much more difference than the mech in my opinion.
Thanks for the replies guys. I'm running an XTR shifter so that's covered. To me, the shifting feels a bit less smooth with the Zee than with my old XT S+ mech
I had a Saint 10spd mech on my bike for about 18 months, it was my do everything bike, from racing DH, to enduro's, to 2 weeks in the Alps, racing the Mega etc. It got abused solidly for that period, and still kept working. I sold it to a mate for his FS and it continues to work to this day as expected.
I had a Zee on my HT, that self imploded for no apparent reason, which got warrantied, and subsequently happened again. All within about 3 months.
I may have been unlucky, but my experience I would say buy Saint ๐
