Does anyone know if I can increase the travel on my 08 Rockshox Recon SL? They are currently set to 100mm I know some models have spacers you can remove.

Also if I can increase the travel will there be any side effects (accept there will be more flex)

Are the SL versions coil or air? If it's coil then I don't think you could alter the travel.

If they're air and are of the all travel variety then it's a simple job, following the guides for the reba

Forks are air, any way to check if they are the all travel versions?

All 08 air rebas were able to go to 115mm, so I guess you can probably do the same with the recons.

It's pretty easy to do/try and if it comes to the worst and it's not possible, at least you'll have given your forks a strip and clean.

Think they'd all travel adjust to 130.

I've just ordered a Commencal Super 4.3 (2009 model) with that fork on and have been told for certain that the one on this bike does not have the 'all travel' spacers. Apparently it mean that travel can be made to 120mm but that I would have to buy a new cartridge.

Not sure if this will be the same for your fork but I think I'm just going to get mine extended anyway. Good luck adn let me know how you get on.

Cheers,
Jason

changed the travel from 100-120 on my 351sl solo air.just chopped 20mm of the spacer.the spacer was 30mm long.dead easy to do.just look at the diagram here.piece of cake.
page 5.
the spacer cosists of a barrel conected to a piece that turns .it,s off the bottem of the barrel you want to chop.
you can set them to wotever you want up to 130

by the way wharfedale.thats the name of my house ๐Ÿ˜‰

Thanks for the replies guys!

Looks like I'd better get myself some suspension fluid and break out the tools.

Robhughes - good name for a house, it's a cracking area to ride.
