[#13098189]

I'm looking for a bit of help and advice here if available. I need to service my RS Zebs. I have various fluids from servicing previous forks but I cannot work out what is equivalent to the required Maxima Plush fluids. If need be I'll buy the required fluids but it seems a shame to waste what I alredy have if they could be used.

Required for service:
Maxima PLUSH 3wt
Maxima PLUSH Dynamic Suspension Lube Light
Maxima PLUSH Dynamic suspension Fluid Heavy
RockShox Dynamic Seal Grease

I have:
A Coke bottle labelled 'Reverb Fluid' with about 400ml of dark reddish orange fluid within. I know that I should have labelled it better but there we go.
A bottle of Rock Oils SV15 high performance suspension fluid.
A bottle of Silkolene Pro RSF 5 Race.
A bottle of Silkolene Fork Oil Light SAE 5 Maintain

And loads of different greases, especially heavier ones to try to deal with living here in wet west Wales.

If anyone can offer a definite equivalence between what I need and what I already own I'd be really grateful. Also, if anyone has a link to a good source for the required fluids I't would be great to know.

Cheers folks, Ambrose.

It depends what fork they are, you need to refer to rockshox website.
Some of the dampers are semi-open IFP type, and the fluid in the lower leg needs to be the same as the damping fluid. For that, I'd use the oil Rockshox say.

If the oil is just to lube the lowers, most fork oil is ok, but I stick to Fox Gold or Rockshox stuff because it works a lot better. It's much stickier and stays in place better than normal motorbike fork oil.

As for grease use a light suspension grease like SRAM Butter, Slick Honey, Slickoleum, RSP Slick Kick.ย

Bits4Bikes on ebay - if you order from him, you should be able to ask which you need to replace and which you can re-use. Very helpful fella.

I'm not familiar with the 2.1rc but my 2.1 from the ultimate is a bladder based damper. The bladder dampers are sealed so unless you need to do a damper service as well, you can leave it alone.

For the lowers, something slippery and sticky like supergliss or fox gold 20 is bestย

AFAIK rockshox dampers are sealed units so no need to worry about ingesting leg oil, that's just fox grip dampers.

I'd just use what you have

Some rockshox dampers work the same as Fox Grip now. e.g. Charger RC (see "Oil purge hole").ย

So the RC doesn't use a bladder.

It's not constantly cycling fluid though. My understanding of that is, if the sealhead at the bottom does ingest oil, then the IFP port allows it to balance.

If it was be, then I'd happily just some of the silkolene 5wt. If you don't like the feel, then get some Maxima 3wt. Nothing ventured, nothing gained.

OP here. Yup, I'm going to do what Onzadog suggests. Yet more ghastly weather tomorrow, so it's a good time for it. Cheers all.
