I have a pair of Mavic Cosmic wheels - a bit old but perfectly good. I'm planning on doing a triathalon soon and was going to put some new tubular tyres on said wheels.

What tubs can people recommend?
I want something that is reasonably durable, that i can use on longer distance training rides.
Weight not so crucial, but grip, rolling resistance and puncture resistance are all important, thanks

conti sprinters,

the competition is a higher end/lighter version. but the sprinter is a bit cheaper, still quick, and handle rather well (my choice for crits in the wet!)

Planet-x had some silk ones they were selling off 'cheap' a while back and I think do other tubular tyres too - might be worth a look.

ditto Conti's. Sound daft but your LBS might ave some old ones kicking around on some old wheels. Great for rare use and you can find some good ones

Tubs can be quite expensive and to a certain extent like everything you get what you pay for however vittoria corsa cx are good value , veloflex crits are very good but also quite expensive. Conti make some okay ones too like their comps although they can be an arse to fit.Conti glue is very good and I would recommend highly.

Tufo or Continental do a range of reasonably good wearing. Be carefull about special offer race/silk ones, they wont last long...

Tufo - Sh!t
Conti - Look at Competition 22 or Sprinters
Veloflex - Record
Vittoria - CX

Or email me and I'll do you a good deal on some matured Gommitalias (Veloflex Record under a different badge)

I had some Competitions that were pretty good, but they wore out quite quickly, the back one went 'flat' on the top rather rapidly. Didn't puncture in about 2000 miles though.
