[#3520292]

I'm changing a few parts and need a bit of advice.

Drivetrain:
I have 10 sp Centaur set up. I will replace the crank with an 11sp Chorus crank which should work fine with the remaining 10 sp set up.

Can i use a 11sp rear mech with 10sp chain and cassette and an 11sp crank?

I currently run a 34/50 compact crank. What differences will i notice with a double 39/54 cranket? Will the double work with my 10sp chain/casette or do i need to make any changes?

Wheelset:
I have open pros on campag hubs. These are about 3 yrs old. Have been used for commuting and occasional weekend training rides. Will probably be doing more road based training this year and the commuting. Can you recommended a decent light wheelset for training and commuting.

A few questions raised hopefully the STW collective has the answers!

I think no.

Double chainset? Just ups your gearing and brings the range in tighter. Might have to lengthen the chain, but will probably be ok.

A nice light wheelset for training and commuting? That would be open pros on hubs of your choice then.

With the double you might find very steep hills harder (but you'll be given more respect)

A nice light wheelset? I've just bought a pair of Velocity Aerohead rims on Pro 3 hubs from JRA, they feel spot on. Somewhere around 1500g or just over I think, apparently a bit better than Open Pros

good luck with a 54t outer ring is what i'd say.

unless you plan on time trialling, the move from a compact 50t to a double 54t will be large
