[Closed] Road bikes £1k that fit muddies

Right then - am after advice please folks.

I'd like a wizzy commuter, but it has to fit normal full length mudguards. I'm not facing 25 miles of wet roads a day thanks. (And I'm not going anywhere near those Crud Road Racer plastic ones - utter rubbish).

My route is mainly road but I do have an option for 'mud' on National Cycle Route 55 Manc to Bolton.

I was looking at 2011 Giant TCX 1 cyclocross but can't find any left in my size (large, M/L is a wee bit too small). The 2012 has a poor spec and doesn't look as cool, which is a shame as the 2011 looks rad!

There are few sales on but nothing to catch my eye yet, and some of the frames have very tight clearances - hard to tell from the adverts. Am interested in other peoples' experiences and if they have any suggestions.

Thanks in advance...

I run those Crud racer guards with no problems on my Giant Defy, as does my dad on his flatbar road bike. Fiddly to fit, but work a treat once they're setup right, did a 130km sportive with them on the other week. I'd not let that limit your choice.

ribble!

edit, just saw you were meaning cx rather than pure road... my ribble can fit mudguards or small cx tyres - not sure it'd do both at the same time.
