Waiting on a couple of parts to finish the conversion of my 19 year old steel Fisher. (pics to follow, once complete)
Anyone got a rigid ss in their 'fleet'?
I had an iO rigid but then stuck a set of Recon 351 on it. Now I can hit stuff faster than my legs will go so the rigids might go back on.
Yep, I have. It's got 20" wheels as well.
I have a 1997 Kona A'ha in a state of not-quite-working. It gets me chicks.
Just built up a ridgid Dekerf generation, running Pace RC31's Only done on short ride.
Now if only i could rebuild the colour coded Judy's i could have a choice ๐
No Pictures till later in the week ๐
Yes. Great night ride bike.
Ride bike, stick in garage dirty, get out garage, waft WD40 over it, ride bike, stick in garage dirty, etc, etc....
Yep. '92 Kona Lava Dome running original P2s and converted to SS using a DMR tensioner.
Just need to rebuild the BB (adjustable cup) and it'll be back in action.
That could be a lot worse qwerty, but you do need to get rid of the dock leaves. ๐
Querty re 'gopper' - love that, what is it and what fork is on it?
yep, steel Kona Caldera with P2s
Yep, a '98 track end converted kona explosif with short RC31s. Iz lovely.
I've got a Kona Explosif of around 2005, the one with the slidey drop-outs. Not ridden it much in the last year due to a back op but used it round Thetford last week and had a great time on it.
Think I will be out on it a little more now.
No pics I'm afraid, only when it has those suspension fork things on it - lol.
Classifieds special here.
2nd Merlin frame, Superstar carbon forks plus bits from the shed.
The forks, stem and chainring bolts are the only new parts on it.
It makes a nice contrast with my main bike (5" forked hardtail).
I've also got a fixed Pompino with 'cross tyres on but that's a whole different ball game ๐
Had one for years, now building a singlespeed 456 Summer Edition with Talas 36.
My Malt 1 rigid commuter becomes a rigid SS during the winter months.
I started with ss'ing my 93 kona explosif, then got a cheap on-one inbred (slot dropout) with carbon forks, which has been great fun and nearly indestructible.
For mountain mayhem i swapped the forks and ss bits onto my geared tinbred, which was amazing, very light and fast and still comfortable with an amazing degree of control with the rigid forks. I was zooming round the mayhem course, and our team ended up 2nd ss and something like 15th overall!
Now keeping an eye out for a singlespeed tinbred frame so i can do it 'properly' ๐
20" and 26" flavours here.

Cannondale Bad Boy singlespeed
Rode one years ago, though my 'single'-speed bikes usually had two chainrings and a rear mech tensioner for on-/off-road or climbing / everything else use.
Don't think my back would stand for a true singlespeed these days unless it was pretty flat. I tried 1x8 speed too, but found the chain was always falling off the chainring without some sort of device to keep it in place.
tempted to get some carbon forks for my SSed XtC.....
Yeah. A 94' Orange Clockwork with Pace forks. Goes really well.
Yup. It's pretty crap on anything bumpy in comparison with modern bikes IMO. Might try some carbon forks.
It's not built because I took it apart a couple of years ago and never re-built it, but I have a rigid fixed wheel mountain bike. The frame was built by a mate who was going into frame building, and is the same geometry as my rigid '94 Zaskar. I really must re-build and ride it.
Beautifull paintjob on that piss off there sofaking!
Wanga with Bonty switchblades here!
witty.name. Lovely bike. Awful saddle....!
I've got an '09 Genesis iO - it was too good to stay rigid though and I had a set of Fox Floats kicking about so on they went - those cheap 520 Genesis frames are wicked fun!
I've a rigid singlespeed Inbred and a rigid singlespeed Solitude. They're my only off-road capable bikes. Apart from one run down the skills loop at Hamsterley on a borrowed Kona Stinky, I've somehow still not got around to having a go on a bike with any suspension.
Here's my Inbred on the way up to Hamsterley yesterday:

Built this one this week, my first singlespeed.
A long shot maybe, but does anyone have an old square taper Race Face forged crank they'd like to sell me (non drive side)? I dug out an old pair that had been in the shed for 8 years only to find a crack one the end.
Needanotherbike - drop me an email... I may actually have what you want.
