Apologies if this is a dumb question, but much as I love riding bikes, the mechanics of them always passes me by.

Anyway, I've got this old (bought in 2000) Rockhopper that I'm planning to convert into a singlespeed commuter. Part of this process involves sticking on rigid forks. Question is....will pretty much any rigid fork do? The bike has V-brakes, so will this http://www.wiggle.co.uk/p/Cycle/7/Salsa_CroMoto_Rigid_Fork/5360029121/ be suitable?

Yeah especially if it had 60-85mm.

You might lower the angle down by a few mm.

Get a tape measure and measure the crown to fork end length e.g. close to 425mm and it's fine. 440mm will suspension corrected fork-44m basically.

Steel/cromo is best-tough too.

I've gone the P2 fork and waiting for more bits.
