Hi,
We were meant to be going to my brother's wedding in Nagasaki in July however due to the prices of flights (we were going to do a week each in NZ, Oz, Japan then LA on the way home) we've selfishly decided to do something else. ๐ We are looking at a Med cruise that starts and finishes in Malaga followed by a a weeks biking. All this can be had cheaper than flights alone with the other option.
I've contacted Joy Riders and Mark has replied saying that due to the weather they usually close over July and August however they'd be able to take us.
My question is would it be too hot to enjoy any riding at that time? We're both fairly fair skinned and not exactly fitness machines (although that'll be getting worked on) would it be completely insufferable?
Anyone been there around that time that could perhaps give me the benefit of their experience.
I rarely get my hols to coincide with the wife's and with close on a month off together we'd rather make the best of it.
Cheers
Paul.
A few of us have booked into Ciclo Montana for a week in July. We normally go in early/mid-May.
Not sure how hot it gets, but hoping it's not too bad.
It'll just make the cold beer at the end of the ride taste that bit better....
I went at the end of June last year and there was a heat wave so it got to July/August temperatures. Average midday temp was around 41-42C, highest we saw was 46 on a digital temperature gauge on a building.
Saying that we started heading out at 7am and were back at the van by 12 to 1, and it was OK, however I did feel a bit sick for the first few days as I couldn't take in enough water but you get used to it.
If you are going with non riders the setup is the best I have seen as the Villa is very nice and the pool is a godsend, but we were told we couldn't do lots of the long rides as once you get to 2pm it just starts getting hotter and hotter until 7pm and you would just make yourself ill.
Ciclo Montana are up in the mountains so is a far bit cooler (but still going to be high thirties)
I went out with Ciclomontana in July one year - the riding was ok, but time off the bike including sleeping was pretty horrendous.
I quite fancy going out again in spring this year................
i went to puremountains in july wast year, it was hot, but by no means unbearable, best riding i have ever done. they tailor the type of riding to the time of year and there are pleanty of opportunities to replen your water etc.

I'll have to see what Mrs McGrew thinks. I really like the idea of the holiday but just can't help but think it's going to be too hot.
Yeah, I know, MTFU ๐
It'll be too hot.
I went to JoyRiders in September and it was perfect.
I've been to Cordoba, not riding, in July. Too hot to do anything after 11am.
