This may sound mad for someone who lives in North Wales. I am seriously considering taking a job in central London for 2 years. Well actually I'd be back home 3 - 4 nights a week and a lot of the rest of the time travelling round the UK. But 50% of the time I would be in SW1 maybe 4 nights a week. Decent flat provided within walking distance of the office, etc etc. The thing is that this year I have got back into being fit, running / riding most days of the week. I've got enough bikes to leave an old but decent hard tail in London. Would I get to use it at all? I quite fancy riding somewhere urban for a change.
check out the canals, not that gnarly but lots of em
bmx track in brixton though....id recemoend a 24" cruiser, coz i got one 😀
rudeboy's ur man innit!
Aye - Rudeboy, Duntmatter and others assemble London urban pootle/pub sessions as and when...
I'd say with 3-4 nights back home, you'd have a blast; London pay, decent flat and no commute? struck it pretty good there if you ask me.
Sure riding isn't the best in itself, but the other half the week at home makes up for that, no?
Besides 2 years isn't really all that long.
Amusing comments from people, I wouldn't be surprised if you didn't want to go back after your two years are up! Riding or no riding!!
Anyway, there is excellent riding within 45 mins of south and west London. There are clubs, tracks meets, nocturns etc. You'll probably be going back to Wales fitter than you thought you could ever be!
Cool, thanks for the comments. I guess like anything you can do stuff or not do stuff. And it's closer than I am now to loads of great music as well. Just have to get the job now, although it's a pretty small field
Hampstead heath, North & South downs a short train ride away, loads of quiet backroads for safe commuting. Hope you get the job, you´ll love London.
