My friend has moved back to Laaaaaaaaarndan after getting into MTB'ing up here. I was wondering if anyone either-

a) is local and wouldn't mind taking her riding? She's pretty good and from what I gather nothing in the Downs would scare her.

b) knows of any good local clubs that ride regularly.

Cheers

London Dynamo are around Wimbledon (Richmond Park)
London Pheonix
Kingston Wheelers are a bit further away

I'm sure some London lads will be here shorlty with more info.

I would but:

a. am currently bikeless
b. would probably hold her up

I think that the clubs that rhys_gibby mentioned are more road based

She'd need to get out of LOndon to find anything decent. The only vaguely interesting stuff on Wimbledon Common and Richmond Park is 'cheeky'

Out of London, take a train and head for Guildford, loads of riding around there (or at least decent coffee just off the main shopping street).

Would anyone be able to mail me the details of anything 'cheeky' on wimbledon common or richmond park?

I could really do with making my journey home a little more interesting.

I'm nearby (in Streatham). She could come out with me if she likes but like drofluf I'd probably hold her up ๐Ÿ˜€
If she doesn't mind travelling a bit - she'll have to if she wants to MTB - tell her to try :
diary of a mountain biker - they do regular rides usually around Dorking.
Or Nirvana Cycles - a bike shop which does regular rides round Dorking too.
Then there's Berks on Bikes (BOB) - a group that rides in Swinley Forest near Reading.
Tell her to drop me an email (in profile) if she wants to ride one weekend too.

For casual rides better to look HERE. Surely there is some stuff to make given rider respect Surrey Hills. But touristy trails are good too, and trail maps can be obtained either from Nirvana Cycles or better still from Pedal'n'spoke at Peaslake.

Biggest club me thinks is the RedhillCC around that area.

I would say if you want sweet riding Winterfold+Pitch+Holmbury (Peaslake village) hills for Touristy* trails and comunity/social bit, while Leith+Redlands+Boxhill (Dorking) for some off piste/gnarly trails. There are some trails that aren't on maps and only known by locals, but thats another story.
Those trails kept secret for a reason.
