[#7269926]

Coming up to Halifax on Tuesday for a few days to spend time with my in laws. Will be bringing the bike and might be able to get out once or twice for a few hours.

So where's good to ride? Any recommended 2-hour local loops?

Appreciate any local knowledge.

Will be bringing a 29er hardtail with.

Cheers.

Or Elland park woods is a bit more downhilly, but quite small area, what sort of riding do you want?

The choices are literally endless!

Assuming you want to ride from the in Laws house? Where is that?

Epic - do a loop around Stoodley pike

Local - Norland Moor / Elland woods /

Hebden is only a short ride / car journey away and there is an excellent range of trails - Blazing saddles bike shop would let you know about a good 2 hour ride from there - maybe up to Gorple reservoir?

If you are on Strava, look for some segments you like the look of an make a loop?

Hope this helps!

We meet in Luddendonfoot on a Tuesday night if you want to come along. End up all over the place. Not too fast a pace.

Meet at 7:30 on the bridge. Between 12-20 miles or so.

@andybrad

What's the pace like? Have seen your FB posts but large group riding (12+) always puts me off with the amount of standing around.

@ElShalimo

Not sure. Very new to the area so no idea where we end up. Was 6 of us last week. Think we ended up over Widdop last Tuesday. More the merrier.

Were a sociable group. made up of everyone from really fat overweight desk jockeys (me) to national XC top 3 finishers and everything in between. Out to have a nice time and not to cover lots of miles t a fast pace. It goes as fast as we can with the people we have so if your lucky and get a few out you can see a 30 miler (unlikely) or you can see a 10-15 miler through the woods if theres a few of us (much more likely)

If you dont want to weight for folks its nott he ride for you, however if you pop a post on our FB page there will surely be somone to tag along on another night ๐Ÿ™‚

Ritz rebels will be a lot faster and are out every Monday if thats your bag.

Ritz rebels will be a lot faster

People say this a lot, but I've never thought we were that fast! There's not usually loads of us (average is about 8 or so) so waiting time is minimal I suppose. Tend to do 18-22 miles or thereabouts in about 2 1/2 hours. Less if we're just dicking about in the woods ๐Ÿ™‚

Phil - have you moved from Mirfield? You gave me a poploc once upon a time, I'm not stalking you! I think I mentioned our Monday night Ritz rides to you, more than welcome to join us any time. One of our number is from Mirfield, so you'd have a friend ๐Ÿ˜‰

Cheers for all of the replies!

Sorry for the radio silence - Ive been at work all day and getting stuff packed for the holiday.

Some great ideas there. I'll get myself up to the area and and see what time I have. An evening ride with you locals sounds good and I have packed/charged the lights.

Would be looking for some Cross country / Trails riding - nothing too committed! Have pity on a poor, soft Southerner!
